The following Obama campaign ad, written by Adam Mansbach, author of Go the F**k Asleep, and financed by the Jewish Council for Education & Research, features Samuel L. Jackson trying to help a little girl rouse her family from a stupor of apathy surrounding the upcoming election. I had planned to stay out of politics on this blog. Yet the ad showcases the level of emotional shutdown I associate with “dissociation” in one of my current research projects, and which I also believe is one of the greatest threats to America–well beyond the outcome of the next election. (The ad includes profanity and is not sponsored by the Obama Administration.)
